Mathematical Modeling for an Integrated Inventory System with Two-level Trade Credit and Random Defectiveness in Transport
author
Abstract:
Modern business environment focuses on improving the operational efficiency of supplier, retailer and customers through integrating their inventory. Although a smoothly running integrated inventory system is ideal, the reality is to deal with imperfectness in transportation. In actual production environments, inventory items are not perfect and defectiveness occurs in random process. In this paper, we propose an integrated supplier–retailer inventory model in which both supplier and retailer have adopted trade credit policies, and the retailer receives an arriving lot which contains random defectiveness in quality of items. This paper proposes a mathematical model considering two situations such as (a) risk neutral and (b) risk-averse case and the solution procedures are described with computational algorithm. The optimization procedures are discussed for determining optimal cycle time and optimal number of shipments by minimizing the expected joint total cost in the integrated inventory system. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the theoretical results, and sensitivity analysis is made for major inventory parameters.

Retailer's inventory system in a two-level trade credit financing with selling price discount and partial order cancellations
In today's fast marketing over the Internet or online, many retailers want to trade at the same time and change their marketing strategy to attract more customers. Some of the customers may decide to cancel their orders partially with a retailer due to various reasons such as increase in customer's waiting time, loss of customer's goodwill on retailer's business, and attractive promotional sche...

full textAn Inventory System for Deteriorating Products with Ramp-Type Demand Rate under Two-Level Trade Credit Financing
An inventory system for deteriorating products, with ramp-type demand rate, under two-level trade credit policy is considered. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Sufficient conditions of the existence and uniqueness of the optimal replenishment policy are provided, and an algorithm, for its determination, is proposed. Numerical examples highlight the obtained results, and sensitivi...
full textOptimal replenishment and credit policy in supply chain inventory model under two levels of trade credit with time- and credit-sensitive demand involving default risk
Traditional supply chain inventory modes with trade credit usually only assumed that the up-stream suppliers offered the down-stream retailers a fixed credit period. However, in practice the retailers will also provide a credit period to customers to promote the market competition. In this paper, we formulate an optimal supply chain inventory model under two levels of trade credit policy with d...
full textManufacturing Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Maximum Lifetime under Two-Level Trade Credit Financing
In the present study, an inventory model is developed especially for a manufacturer where manufactured product not only deteriorates continuous but also has a maximum lifetime. It is assumed that supplier offers full trade credit period of M to the manufacturer while due to the strong position in the market, manufacturer provides partial trade credit period of N to his/her wholesaler. The objec...
full textOptimal pricing, shipment and payment policy for an integrated supplier-buyer inventory model with two-part trade credit
In this article, we develop an integrated supplier–buyer inventory model with the assumption that the market demand is sensitive to the retail price and the supplier adopts a trade credit policy. The trade credit policy discussed in this paper is a ‘‘two-part’’ strategy: cash discount and delayed payment. That is, if the buyer pays within M1, the buyer receives a cash discount; otherwise, the f...
